Holmes a hit with Eli Stone Cast
|
Actress KATIE HOLMES has already won over her new co-stars on U.S. TV show ELI STONE. Holmes will appear in the comedy series as an attorney when the show returns to the air this autumn (08).
And the star is already popular with her new castmates, including Natasha Henstridge, who plays Taylor Wethersby. She tells People.com, "She was super gracious and lovely. And statuesque and gorgeous." Henstridge also reveals how Holmes impressed the cast by helping them move the set's furniture. She says, "I was literally moving a table with (executive producer) Greg Berlanti at the table read, and Katie came in and said, 'Do you guys need any help?'"
Jason Winston George, who plays Keith Bennett, adds, "Katie throws down her Starbucks and runs over to help move tables."

Katie Holmes goes back to TV roots on `Eli Stone'
|
Former "Dawson's Creek" star Katie Holmes will revisit her TV roots with a guest role on "Eli Stone" this fall.
Holmes was courted by Greg Berlanti, who was a producer on "Dawson's Creek" and is the co-creator and executive producer of ABC's drama about a lawyer (Jonny Lee Miller) who gains prophetic powers.
The idea of bringing Holmes aboard came up in a discussion about how to expand the show's audience in its sophomore year. Berlanti told his fellow producers he was willing to approach Holmes.
"I went and I begged her and she said, `I'd love to,'" Berlanti told a meeting of the Television Critics Association. He called Holmes "an incredible actress and a good friend."
The episode with Holmes, in which she displays her singing and dancing skills, is the season's second and will air Oct. 21. Berlanti declined to detail the story line.
"Eli Stone" has turned musical in the past, with pop star George Michael performing in the series' debut episode. There are plans for Michael to return, possibly on a December episode, Berlanti said.
Holmes, who played Joey Potter on "Dawson's Creek" from 1998 to 2003, has worked in films including "Batman Begins" and "Thank You for Smoking" and is married to Tom Cruise. She's scheduled to make her Broadway debut Sept. 18 in a revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons."
Miller can boast a high-profile ex-wife: Angelina Jolie, who gave birth last week to twins with husband Brad Pitt.
When a reporter asked if Jolie might appear on "Eli Stone" and if Miller would be willing to call her, the actor replied: "You'll have to call her, I'm afraid."

Cruise To Move to New York with Broadway-Bound Holmes
|
Tom Cruise is moving to New York with his wife, Katie Holmes, while she stars in Broadway play "All My Sons."
Last month, the actress confirmed she would be making her stage debut in the Arthur Miller play, following months of negotiations.
Producer Eric Falkenstein reveals the deal took so long to strike, because Holmes wants to relocate her whole family, including Cruise and their 2-year-old daughter Suri, to the Big Apple when the show opens in October.
Falkenstein reveals, "It took time -- about four months -- to work out. There were family issues. She and Tom are committed to keeping the family together, so they have to get an apartment here."
He also insists Holmes wasn't hired because of her celebrity name: "Katie's not really a celebrity type. She's done brilliant work in films like 'Pieces of April' and 'The Ice Storm' and is perfect for the role.
"(Her character is) a natural sweetheart who can sniff out phonies; Katie basically has that exact moral fiber."

Katie Holmes headed to Broadway
|
Katie Holmes is looking forward to her Broadway debut.
The "Dawson's Creek" star and wife of Tom Cruise, who most recently starred in this year's "Mad Money" alongside Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah, will hit the stage in a revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons" this fall.
Fellow castmembers include John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson. Exact dates and theater will be announced, producer Eric Falkenstein said Monday.
The play, first seen on Broadway in 1947, was Miller's first Broadway hit. It concerns businessman Joe Keller (Lithgow) whose factory supplied defective cylinder parts to the military, resulting in the deaths of 21 pilots during World War II. Yet it was his business partner who went to jail for the mistake.
Wiest will play Keller's wife; Wilson, his idealistic son; and Holmes, the son's fiancee and daughter of Keller's disgraced partner.
Simon McBurney will direct "All My Sons," which was revived on Broadway in 1987 and was last seen in New York 10 years later in a Roundabout Theatre Company production off-Broadway.

Katie Holmes to make Broadway debut in "All My Sons"
|
Actress Katie Holmes will make her Broadway debut this autumn in a revival of Arthur Miller's "All My Sons," starring alongside Oscar winner Dianne Wiest and Tony winner John Lithgow, producers said on Monday.
Holmes shot to fame on the U.S. television series "Dawson's Creek" before marrying actor Tom Cruise with whom she has two-year-old daughter Suri. Most recently she starred in "Mad Money."
"All My Sons" is due to open on Broadway this fall, but a theater and date have not yet been announced.
The play is based on a true story about a successful businessman who knowingly sold the government defective airplane parts during World War II with tragic consequences. The truth comes out and his life unravels when his son marries his business partner's daughter, to be played by Holmes.
"All My Sons" was first performed on Broadway in 1947 and won Tony Awards for Miller and director Elia Kazan. It was adapted for a 1948 feature film starring Edward G. Robinson and Burt Lancaster and then performed again on Broadway in 1987.
